Oral Examination

During your initial dental visit, a comprehensive dental exam will be performed. At regular check up exams your dentist will perform the following:

Examination of diagnostic digital x-rays:

This is critical component for detecting decay, infections and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root position and anatomy. Digital x-rays expose you to up to 80-90% less radiation than traditional dental x-rays, making it safer for you and our dental team. The magnified digital image is visible on a monitor in your treatment room while Dr. Davoodian explains her findings to you. Our advanced technology, aids in detecting decay (cavities), the health of your bone, impacted teeth, or any boney pathology like abscesses, tumors or cysts.

Digital Intraoral Camera

Dr. Davoodian utilizes intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. It also allows our patients to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums. With clear, defined and enlarged images you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations.

Gum disease evaluation:

After thorough examination of the xrays and photos, the doctor will also check and measure the gum tissue and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.

Oral cancer screening:

Early detection of oral cancer has shown that patients can have an 80-90% chance of survival. An oral cancer screenings is a part of you regular dental exam. Dr. Davoodian will check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of discoloration and abnormal consistency which may indicate oral cancer. Contrary to common belief, oral cancer can affect non-smokers as well as smokers.
